The Foundation

Clay City's Youth Group, newly named The Foundation, has been meeting every Monday night at 7 since June 2, 2008. Click here to see our MySpace page!

Sadly, we are unable to attend our planned summer camp, but the Lord has blessed us with another opportunity to bond with each other and more importantly, grow closer to Him.

We will be going to Spirit West Coast 2008 in Monterey from Wednesday, July 30 until Saturday, August 2. This is a time where thousands of Christian and non-Christian youth meet to worship, celebrate and grow closer to God.

There are over twenty bands, comedians and speakers who dedicate their lives to further Gods kingdom by reaching out to the youth. We as a group are so thankful for all of the support that our church has given us. We see God's hand in our ministry every time we meet.

We are having a fundraiser at TCBY in Lincoln on Monday, July 21, 2008 from 4-9:30 pm. They are offering to donate 20% of their earnings during that time period to help fund The Foundation's trip to Spirit West Coast.

We ask for your support in helping us by going to get ice cream at TCBY during this time and inviting others in the community to do so as well. We really appreciate the support given to us by all of you at Clay City and we thank you for all of the blessings from the bottom of our hearts!

We recently announced that The Foundation could not go to summer camp and will instead be going to Spirit West Coast 08. We have taken a count and there will be 10 of us going.

The Foundation has recently posted some of the fundraisers for Spirit West Coast 08 coming up. We have another one coming up that we would like you to know about.

On Saturday, July 12, The Foundation will be having manicures and pedicures at the office from 9am until 4pm. Because we do not have church that week, we thought it would be nice to have a spa day at the office. We will be taking donations for our upcoming trip.

We would ask you to make an appointment if at all possible, but we also will be taking walk ins. For more information, or to make an appointment, call Audrey at 916-410-5018. We would like to thank you so much for all of the support you have given us.

Dear Clay City Church,
On behalf of the Foundation and its leaders, we wanted to thank you for sending us on our first ever Youth Leader Retreat at Jenness Park. We had a great time learning and in fellowship with each other. It really helped us get a jump start on what is to come in the following year! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

Also, The Foundation has made a friend!!! We will be meeting with Arena Church's youth group on Sunday, Feb. 15 at 1 PM at McBean Park for some games. Please wear clothes that can get dirty! Thanks a bunch and have a blessed day!

Hello All!
On Feb. 15, the Foundation met with Arena church's youth group and had a game day. Although the weather was not what we expected, we crammed 27 youth and youth leaders into the office and had games, food, and just a good time in fellowship.

Thank you for giving us that opportunity.

We have also taken a vote and decided where we will be spending our summer: We will be going to Spirit West Coast 2009 in Monterey. We are all very excited about this.

One last thing, our trip to Skyzone with Arena was postponed until next month due to scheduling conflicts. We will be going with them in March. Have a blessed day and don't forget, Monday Nights at 7 in the church office. Anyone that is 6th grade-high school is welcome.

Hey All,
 For those of you who don't know me, my name is Audrey Potts and I am the youth pastor for Clay City Church's youth group, The Foundation.

Monday we were talking about reading the Bible. I don't know about you, but growing up, I really didn't see the need to read the Bible everyday. I didn't change this opinion until I felt I had nowhere else to turn.

I remember growing up and being challenged to read a Proverb a day to see if it brought about change. I never thought that in 7 years I would be challenging my youth group to do the same... but here it is: Clay City's youth will be challenged to read a chapter of Proverbs a day throughout March.

It is their decision, but the challenge has been put out there. Because I think this bring about such a blessing (I mean, how could reading your Bible NOT be a blessing), I felt I would invite all of Clay City and its friends to do so.

As for new with the youth, we are having another Youth Lead Service on Saturday Night, March 28, 2009. Please come! And in advance- thank you to everyone that helps us out!

Also, we will be having a fundraiser for Spirit West Coast 2009. After our youth lead service, we will have a spaghetti dinner. It is open to everyone, and even if you are not able to donate, please feel free to sit and eat with us!

Hello All! First off, thank you so much for a great youth led service! We all had a great time together! A special thanks to the following people for all of their help:
The Band: Eric, Mark and Brian- YOU GUYS WERE GREAT!! Thank you so much for dealing with us! You all rocked the house! Jody: Thanks for letting us do this and for all of the support. Joell: Thank you for letting us use your projector! It made a huge difference! All of the people that helped in the kitchen: Dora, Jon, Dan: Thanks for helping our fundraiser. Hey All!

This week the youth went over what Jesus had to go through on the cross. We talked about how He suffered, was mocked, was beaten, and was humiliated... all for us.

We saw how much Jesus loved us and how Jesus saw something in us that made Him love us so much to die a terrible death. We then nailed some of the sins of the world and letters to Jesus on our cross. We ended with worship in song. It was a great time.

In other news-- thank you for all of your help with the fundraisers! We couldn't be doing any of this without you! We really are blessed with you and your support.

Hey All,

We have started a new series about prayer. On Monday, we broke into groups and made up lists of some needs that we see, and some of the amazing things that God has done for us, and the leaders challenged the groups to give up 5-10 minutes of their day for the rest of April to pray for those things.

Like always, I would like to extend that challenge to you. Spend 5-10 minutes praying for things put on your heart everyday until April ends. If you would like to, get into groups and make a list of things you would like to pray for: your leaders, clay city church, opportunities for Christians to talk to non-believers about God. Just see what God can do with that situation when you pray.

Also, we will be having a fundraiser on Sat. April 25 after church. We will be flipping the chairs around, popping some popcorn, getting some drinks and having a movie night. Please come and join us. Right now I am looking into Horton Hears a Who or Kung Fu Panda. If you have any thoughts on what you would like to see, let me know.

Hey all,

I hope you guys are all sticking with your prayer challenge. Monday we went over
Romans 8:25-28.

We are having a movie fundraiser after church on Saturday. We will be watching a movie and serving snacks all to earn money for Spirit West Coast 2009.

Also, we are starting to gather the names on who will be attending this event, so if you know of any youth that wanted to go, let me know. It will be 70 dollars to go from July 29- August 2.

Hi All!

A few months ago, a 14 year old girl asked me if one day, she could teach a lesson to the youth group. She told me a story of how she felt that one day she was supposed to be a youth leader too.

All I could say was, "Of course." On Monday Abigail taught a lesson to the youth group and all I can say is WOW. What a blessing it was to be in youth group on Monday.

On Friday the 29th (This Friday), the boys and girls will be meeting at the church office at 7PM to break off into girls and boys and have Girls/Guys night out. If possible, please send your child (and whatever friends they bring) with 10 dollars. We should be back to the office around 9:30. 

On Saturday, we will be celebrating our 1st birthday! Please come join the Foundation in celebrating its first birthday!

  • 4 jars of spaghetti sauce
  • 3 lanterns
  • 2 cartons of eggs
  • 10 cans of evaporated milk
  • 2 packages of chocolate
  • 1 bag of marshmallows
  • 2 packages of graham crackers
  • 4 loaves of bread
  • 1 large jar of peanut butter
  • 1 large jar of jelly
  • 2 large buckets
  • 4 rolls of paper towels
  • 1 bottle of dish washing soap
  • 1 large pot
  • 1 metal spatula
  • 1 large pan
  • 1 can of bug spray
  • 1 can of sunscreen

Wow, wasn't Saturday great?! I must say it was so awesome seeing the Youth group hanging out together. This Saturday, after church we are having a hangout night at Jody's for the Youth. There will be pizza, pool, and watermelon eating contests. Audrey

Hi all! So it is officially October, which means we are kicking off our next endeavor for the Youth department. If you missed the announcement on Saturday Night, our Youth department has decided to support a ministry that we believe is such an amazing ministry. The AM Clean is such a powerful place to go in the morning. I highly recommend that you stop in and spend some time with this ministry. It is such an amazing ministry that serves the community while preaching Christ. We picked the AM Clean because we feel that it is a powerful ministry, but also because they are similar to us. So how can you help? First is prayer. Pray for strength. Pray for protection. Pray for the ministry and its leaders. Saturday is a bake sale. It is donation only. Thank you so much for your help.
